[Linda Belisle reporting] “Sunday morning I had the extreme pleasure of having brunch with Annie Barrows, the author of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. She was in the area for a presentation scheduled for later that day. At Inter Lakes High School, Annie she kept us all spell bound for an hour and a half. She told story of how the novel came to be. Her entire presentation was a tribute to her aunt, Mary Ann Shaffer, the other author of the book. Annie told of her aunt being THE STORYTELLER in a family of storytellers. After submitting her manuscript for publication, however, Mary Ann became too ill to complete the necessary “final touches” and invited her niece, Annie, to do so. The rest is now history. The auditorium was packed almost to capacity. It was a fantastic ending to this wonderful shared community event.”
