Elmore Leonard on film

RaylanThis just in:  DVDs based on stories by the late Elmore Leonard.  All the films show Leonard’s trademark elements,: whip smart dialog, quirky characters, and the fine line between outlaws and the lawmen who chase them.  Hombre revisits the Stagecoach cast -of-misfits theme , with the added twist that the gunman character (Paul Newman ) is a Native American.  In Out of Sight, a bank robber (George Clooney) and a kidnapped U.S. Marshall (Jennifer Lopez) are forced to occupy a car trunk together during a getaway.  Last Stand at Saber River  is about a  rancher (Tom Selleck) who finds that he is not able to leave the Civil War behind him.  Finally,  in the made for TV Justified, Marshall Raylan Givens (Timothy Oliphant) has a wild west approach to justice.  And his jurisdiction, the coal country of Harlan County, KY, home to moonshiners, pot growers, oxy dealers and white supremacists, is wild indeed.
