Bookish suspense

pearlCombining suspense with some literary panache is Matthew Pearl’s  “The Last Bookaneer “ which takes us into the world of 19th century literary piracy.  Publishers would hire “bookaneers” to purloin manuscripts so they could sell unauthorized editions.  In this tale, a team sets out for the South Pacific to procure a text of Robert Louis Stevenson’s final novel.
