Longmire (seasons 1-3) is a crime drama about an old-school sheriff, Walt Longmoire, keeping the peace in present day Wyoming.  The series, based on novels by Craig Johnson, neatly mixes genre elements from western and mystery fiction. The episodes mix a stand-alone crime with several ongoing plot elements that carry through the series.   Crimes involving reservation politics, wilderness development, game poachers and free staters add a dollop of social realism to the mix.  Longmire is well written, acted and filmed.  Well worth a view.
