Two documentaries of note are in our visiting DVD set. The “Art of Killing” (2013) is about members of the death squads that suppressed the Indonesian revolution of 1965. Now in old age, the film explores their mind set and the lingering effects of their actions. “Jesus Camp” is a 2006 film about a summer camp, where children are taught how to “take back America for Christ”. Critics found the film “impressive in its even-handed presentation”, and “a revealing, unabashed look tomorrow’s army of God.”

Quotable“The precise role of the artist is to illuminate that darkness, so that we will not, in all our doing, lose sight of our purpose, which is to make the world a more human dwelling place.” James Baldwin
