Best picture

spot“Spotlight,” which won the Oscar for best picture this year, is a ‘remarkably assured and tight retelling” of the Boston Globe’s investigation in to the cover up of child abuse by priests in Boston’s Archdiocese. The Globe committed its spotlight team, a group of reporters dedicated to investigative reporting, to pursue the story. They did so despite resistance both within the community and within the paper itself. “The movie finds drama, not in telling the audience what it doesn’t know, but in showing us people finding out the scope and dimension of what we already know (San Francisco Chronicle).”
