Finally, the last of this year’s Oscar winners Oscar winners have arrived on DVD.  In “The Revenant”, frontier explorer Hugh Glass (Best Actor Leonardo DiCaprio) is attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.  He struggles to survive, and then to have his revenge.  This “brooding western” was from the director of last year’s Oscar winner “Birdman.”  “Son of Saul”, which won the Oscar for best foreign language film, is a concentration camp drama about a father who must choose between participating in the clandestine and securing a proper Jewish burial for his child. This is a “riveting” and “emotionally shattering” film (Chicago Sun Times).
