Movie lovers may be pleased to know that La La Land, the musical wrongly announced as Best Picture, is now on DVD at the Nichols Library. Critics were dazzled by director Damien Chazelle’s throwback style (with one notable exception). Patriots Day is a straight no chaser re-enactment of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Mark Wahlberg stars as a weary street cop on the scene at the finish line. From his vantage, we meet victims, see the fight for control of the operation, and follow the manhunt to its fatal conclusion. Star Wars Rouge One answers a question left over from the original movie: how did Princess Leia get the Death Star plans that revealed its fatal weakness? Remember Hope and Glory, the story of an English boy who survives the London Blitz and learns to pitch a googly? In Queen and Country, he’s come of age, in the army and ready for love. This wartime comedy of manners offers a “delightfully whimsical portrait of 1952 England, that’s both uproarious and politically pointed” (Minneapolis Star Tribune). Moana and Sing offer animated fun for kids of all ages.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-2, someone will be in the library to answer the phone and fill all received requests to be placed in the Curbside Bin. The building currently remains closed to the public.

A Message from the Nichols Library Board of Trustees
January 4, 2021
We are reviewing recommendations issued by the State of New Hampshire and “best practices” put forth by the State Library to ascertain how to best serve the public while providing a safe workplace for our employees. We are being careful and thoughtful as we move towards reopening our Library. Hopefully, this will happen in the near future on a limited basis. Your continuing patience and understanding is much appreciated.
We welcome hearing from you during these challenging times. Please feel free to email the Trustees at email@example.com or call the Library at 603-253-6950 with your ideas, comments and suggestions about reopening.
