In A Casualty of War toddby Charles Todd,  Nurse Bess Crawford treats an officer who claims he was wounded by a cousin over a family dispute.  Joe Gunther takes a back seat in Archer Mayor’s Trace as three of his subordinates tackle tricky cases.  In The Hangman’s Sonnet by Reed Farrel Coleman (Pinch-hitting for the late Robert Parker),  Jesse Stone is tasked with providing security for a gala honoring a reclusive singer-songwriter.  Kate Shugak’s routine wilderness rescue get complicated in Less than Treason by Dana Stabenow when a pile of human remains are found on the scene. In Secrets in Death by J.D. Robb, a gossip columnist using her sources for blackmail is found shot. Harlan Coben, the ‘folk poet of the suburbs’ (NYT) pens a stand-alone about an unsolved crime in Don’t Let Go.
