In “The Rules of Magic”, a prequel to Alice Hoffman’s  “Practical Magic“, three siblings discover both the power and curse of their gifts.  “Origin”, Dan Brown’s latest thriller featuring master symbologist Robert Langdon, pits creationism against science. “Enigma” by Catherine Coulter ’s pits Savich and Sherlock in a race against time to stop a mad scientist and solve the titular ‘enigma’ of a John Doe.  “Children of the Fleet” by Orson Scott Card is a sci-fi adventure about a rogue space fleet candidate.
