“The Western Star” by Craig Johnson brings series star Walt Longmire (of TV fame) to the [printed page. This story flashes back to Longmire’s early days on the force, where, fresh back from service in Viet Nam was ill-prepared for the machinations veteran cops he meets at an annual Sheriffs Association meeting.  Fans of C. J. Box,  James Lee Burke and other neo-Western crime writers will want to give this a try.
