In “Dunkirk”, director Christopher Nolan (“Momento”) uses the evacuation of the British army from France as a setting for a survival movie. Think “Titantic”, only the cast is trying to get on a boat, not off of one. Compared to Dunkirk’s spic canvas, “Victoria and Abdul” is an exquisite miniature. The story is based on the real-life relationship between Queen Victoria of England and her Muslim servant, Abdul Karim, one which upsets the Queen’s inner circle.
