greeksGreeks Bearing Gifts” by Phillip Kerr finds Bernie Gunther in Athens on the trail of a war criminal.  Bernie “walks down streets so mean that nobody can stay alive and remain truly clean” (NPR). In “The Temptation of Forgiveness” by Donna Leon, Inspector Brunetti is flummoxed when the father of a teen he is helping dies suspiciously.” Brunetti’s investigative methods are drolly amusing” (NYT).  Macbeth by Jo Nesbo, sets Shakespeare’s drama in a declining town riven with gang warfare, drug addiction and corruption.  Scandi-Noir meets the classics.
