Period fiction with a punch

berlinBabylon Berlin” by Volker Kutsche follows Detective Gereon Rath,  investigates a vice case that leads him into a mysterious web involving organized crime, socialist revolutionaries, crooked cops, and the military right, all which threaten the fragile Weimer Republic.  In many ways, Germany’s roaring 20s were wilder than our own; this story “cleverly captures the dark and dangerous period.”
