“Star Wars: the Last Jedi” continues the epic space opera.   Rey Daisy (Daisy Ridley). who was revealed to be attuned to The Force in Star Wars VII,  seeks out Luke Skywalker (Mark Hammill) to be trained as a Jedi.   She had better hurry.  Kylo Ren has The Resistance, led by General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) on the run. Director Rian Johnson provides the expected action sequences, but he also “does the best job of any Star Wars film of capturing the allure of the Dark Side “(Atlantic).  More spectacle is available “The Greatest Showman”, a flashy musical featuring Hugh Jackman as promoter P.T. Barnum.  And, in “Hostiles”,  Christian Bale plays an army captain who reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief (Wes Studi) back to tribal lands.
