Spies and soldiers

beruitBeirut” is a tense thriller about a retired diplomat who returns to the Middle East to help solve a kidnapping.  “This is an old-fashioned spy thriller” (Chicago Sun-Times). Bourne screenwriter Tony Gilroy keeps the action jumping and Jon Hamm delivers a solid performance. “The Battle for Sevastopol”  is based on a true story about a woman sniper. Lyudmila Pavlichenko took up shooting as a lark, but did well enough to be recruited by a Red Army desperate to fight off the to fight the Nazi invasion.  She became one of the deadliest snipers in World War II.
