Fiction readers will be please to see that Andre Dubus (“House of Sand and Fog”) has published his first story in ten years. In “Gone So Long”, a blue-collar father, recently released from prison, seeks out his estranged daughter, who he has not seen in decades. Dubus “evokes a dazzling palette of emotions as he skillfully unpacks the psychological tensions between fear and forgiveness, anger and love” (Booklist). “Killing Commendatore” is the latest novel by Haruki Murakami (“Kafka on the Shore”). The narrator, a talented but fecless artist, discovers his wife is having an affair, quits painting, and embarks to see a blind master. “Murakami’s sense of humor balances the otherworldly aspects of his story, making this a consistently rewarding novel” (Publishers Weekly).
