John Grisham, that is. But this time, instead of a hero lawyer, we have a story about an enigmatic defendant.   In his “Reckoning”, a respected war hero, back from savage fighting in the Pacific, cold-bloodedly murders a pastor.  He offers no resistance to his arrest and no explanation for his actions. “As usual, Grisham does a solid job of portraying a Southern town at a particular moment in time, touching upon social issues as he goes” (Kirkus Reviews).
