“The Weather Machine” by Andrew Blum is “a lively and surprising tour behind the weather forecast” (Snapshot). Author Blum visits old-school weather stations, observes satellites at work, talks with technicians creating computer models of weather activity, and examines the fragile international alliances that share information those models depend on. You may not need a weatherman to know which way the winds blows, but this quick read shows the tremendous effort that goes in making the forecasts.
