Suspense!

We always have more of these because the pages fly by so fast. The Bitterroots by C. J. Box, newly-minted PI Cassie Dewell does an old friend a favor when she tries to exonerate a man accused of assault. The alleged victim is from an influential family, and Cassie soon finds that twisted family loyalty runs as deep as the ties to the land. In Lady in the Lake by Laura Lippman, crime reporter Maddie Schwartz covers the story of a missing woman whose body was discovered in Baltimore’s city park lake.  Its a splashy story that could make her name, but she seems to be the only one intent on pursing it. The Last Widow by Karin Slaughter begins with the kidnapping of a CDC researcher in Atlanta. There’s alwayas something new by James Patterson; this one is called The Inn.
