Sunset serenade: Take Five, Part II

First recorded in 1959, Take Five it has become a jazz standard, which we featured during jazz appreciation month. What you might not know is that Brubeck set the tune to an unusual 5/4 beat, which he picked up from travels in the middle east. Brubeck’s beat and chordal piano style combined with sax man Paul Desmond’s smooth melody to create the best-selling jazz single of all time.
