OUR FUTURE

See the exciting plans we have in store for our beloved library!

In December of 2025, the Library Trustees selected Samyn D’Elia Architects (SDA) of Holderness to conduct a feasibility study for the underused basement of the Library. The images below show two artist’s renderings and the floor plan recommended by the Trustees.

The first shows the exterior of the library with a beautiful light-filled entrance way that houses stairs to both levels and a lift (elevator).

The second is the cheerful, welcoming children’s room. It features a kids’ reading area that is a replica of the SS Mount Washington, a gorgeous mural depicting Center Harbor’s historic landscape, all under a fluffy cloud canopy.

The third image is the floor plan of both levels:

Some of the exciting features are: a spacious meeting room, a kitchen area that will service both the meeting room and a staff workspace/break room, two ADA-compliant restrooms with changing tables, two private work study cubicles, three computer workstations and even a book sale area and local news kiosk.

All areas on the main floor will remain the same, with minor modifications to accommodate the needs of disabled patrons.

The Trustees are planning to raise all funds independently, so that there is no tax burden to Center Harbor residents. There will be a public hearing on Saturday, July 25th at 9:00 am in the Cary Mead Room of Center Harbor Town Hall presented by SDA. Please be sure to attend to learn more about the basement renovation.
